The competition in the property management biz is serious at the moment. Rental properties are a hot investment for people and they’re looking for property managers to take care of their investment. There are a lot of tricks to help you stay ahead of the competition such as property inspection software, but if you want to get the clients in and stay ahead of the Joneses then you’ll have to beat the competition to the clients. That’s where content marketing comes in.

What Is It?

Content marketing is a little bit like giving out flyers, only the flyers can contain all the information you could ever want people to know about your company and then some. With content marketing, you share valuable content that your clients want to read. This can be anything from advice, to notices about a promotion, the choice is endless and the content can be in any form

too. Some of the preferred types of content to use are:

  • Emails
  • Blogs
  • E-zine Articles

Writing the Content

The most important factor to remember about content marketing is that the content must be useful to the reader. If a property management company writes a blog on “How to Bedazzle your Jeans”, the company will definitely not be seeing any new clients from that particular post.

Emails are used to stay in contact with people who have shown interest in a property management company. They’re also a great way to reach out to potential clients. They can guide the reader to interesting things that are happening on the site that might interest them and essentially keep the company in the mind’s eye of any future clients.

Blogs should be about a subject that the clients can relate to and that they find helpful. A property management business in Jersey for example could write a blog about the house prices in and around Jersey at the time. This would show potential clients that the company had its finger on the pulse, the client would gain some useful knowledge that they would appreciate and the blog would be specific to them because they were looking to purchase property in the Jersey area.

E-zine articles are a great way to get a link back to the website of the property management company from a useful, neutral site. The sales article should not be in any way sales orientated, but instead co

ver a topic that clients might find interested such as home renovation or even “how to choose the right property management company”. If the article is excellent quality, it can win the trust of the reader as well as convincing them to follow the link to look at the services of the property management company.

Sharing the Content

When it comes to sharing the content, social media is a great platform that many businesses are embracing. Take note though that simply posting links to your own content all the time is extremely off putting and not many people like it. The key to sharing content in this way is to engage with people and start a dialogue. As more people engage with you, the more visible your content will be.

Mix It Up

Content marketing is a great way to spread the word about your business and establish yourself in the community. However, it’s only one part of the marketing efforts that will be needed to secure clients. At the end of the day though, nothing can compare to excellent referrals from satisfied customers, so it’s imperative that you always provide the best service possible for your property management clients.
